Library offers free cards to non-residents displaced by hurricane
In wake of recent storms, the library will offer complimentary non-resident cards to displaced citizens
BEAUFORT, SC – Residents from areas devastated by Hurricane Helene have temporarily relocated to stay with relatives and friends while their hometowns are undergoing cleanup. In support of these individuals during their time in Beaufort County, the Beaufort County Library is pleased to offer a temporary waiver of the "non-resident card" fee ($40) for those residing in Beaufort County while their communities recover.
Non-Beaufort County residents to which this situation applies are asked to:
1) Provide an ID and current address from their home state
2) Provide the address of their temporary Beaufort County residence (AirBNB, hotel, relative’s house, etc.)
Only residents of areas affected by Hurricane Helene are eligible (Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee). This card would be valid for one year and would give them access to our library resources during their stay in Beaufort County.
"All across the Lowcountry, communities are coming together to help those impacted by Hurricane Helene. This is something our library can do to provide comfort and connection while people are away from home,” said Library Director Amanda Brewer Dickman.
Library cards are always free to Beaufort County residents ages 4 and older.
