UPDATE June 2020: No library branch facilities will be open to the public until Monday, 15 June, 2020 to allow for COVID-19 safety protocols to be put in place for both library staff and the public. These protocols include moving furniture and computers to allow for appropriate social distancing, providing sneeze guards at service points, installing appropriate signage, receiving the cleaning supplies and training library staff.
UPDATE 5/15/20: The Library system will make an announcement soon. To be among the first to know about library news and any changes in service, we encourage you to subscribe to our email newsletters. We thank you for your patience, understanding, and continued support.

The Beaufort County Library system thanks our community for its patience and understanding as we closely monitor COVID-19 developments and work to mitigate issues related to the temporary closure of the library system.
During the library’s closure:
Please keep your borrowed materials.
Due dates on SCLENDS materials have been extended. Overdue fines will not accrue during the time the libraries are closed.
All holds will be suspended until the library re-opens to the public.
Customers should not place holds on any items in the SCLENDS catalog. (No library materials are being transferred between library systems at this time.) SCLENDS Public Library Lending Consortium to Cease Operations until Further Notice
If your library account was nearing its renewal date, all card renewal dates have been extended until mid-April.
All scheduled library events and meeting room bookings are canceled until further notice.
We encourage library customers to explore our digital resources such as Hoopla, cloudLibrary, and Flipster.
Any changes or updates to library services will be posted to our website. For official updates regarding all Beaufort County services, stay tuned to the Beaufort County Government site.

3/15/20: To help mitigate the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19), all Beaufort County Library locations are temporarily closing starting tomorrow, Monday, March 16 through at least Tuesday, March 31 or until further notice.
Like neighboring systems across the state, this decision was made out of utmost concern for the health, safety, and well-being of library customers, staff, and the community.
During this closure, the following apply:
- Please keep your borrowed materials.
- All book drops will be closed. Please do not place items in or near book drop or library entrances.
- Overdue fines will not accrue during the time the libraries are closed.
- All holds will be suspended until the library re-opens to the public.
- All scheduled library events and meeting room bookings are canceled until further notice.
During the closure, customers are encouraged to use the library's downloadable services & online resources.
