Gift of Reading

The Beaufort County School District and the Beaufort County Library system, in a continuation of their dynamic partnership, announce the Gift of Reading program, a new initiative that aims to provide Beaufort County’s youngest students with new and enjoyable books to kick-start their home library. The new program was initiated thanks to the generosity of a local couple seeking to provide books that Beaufort County’s children can keep at home and that will, ultimately, help to develop a child’s lifelong love of reading. The school district and the public library system are a natural fit to spearhead this effort with both systems having recently partnered to implement the first county-wide summer reading program, Summer @ Your Library. The Public Library Foundation of Beaufort County, a non-profit organization that helps support the Beaufort County Library, has enthusiastically agreed to accept and manage donations in support of the Gift of Reading program.
