It’s on Hoopla and I finished it in a day because I couldn’t put it down! It’s perfect for teens who love thrillers and dystopian fiction (and adults too, of course!)

The Thursday Murder Club by Richard Osman

Recommended by Acey Deiwert, Youth Services Library Specialist

As an avid mystery reader, this series reminds me of the Golden Age of Mystery with new and updated scenarios. The retirement home setting is as much a character as the amateur sleuths! Definitely a must read for mystery fans!

The Silent Patient

by Alex Michaelides

Recommended by Emily Nagel, Library Assistant

Despite reading The Silent Patient over two years ago, I still think it is one of the best thrillers I have ever read and definitely a must read for lovers of thrillers.

The Housemaid

by Freida McFadden

Recommended by Sydney Whiteside, Library Assistant

The Housemaid series by Freida McFadden is full of twists and turns that leave the reader contemplating their life for the next several days. There are three, mind-boggling novels, and McFadden just released a short, winter themed novel that is the newest edition to the series (if reading the series, read it as 2.5)! Readers: beware and enjoy!

Sadie

by Courtney Summers

Recommended by Libby Voight, Branch Manager

When reading mysteries I want the plot twists and reveals to hit me like a gut punch and Courtney Summers does that painfully well. I recommend her book Sadie, especially in audiobook format on Hoopla because it's a full cast production so it's like listening to a podcast. This book is perfect for true crime junkies, but it's also about how problematic a culture obsessed with true crime, specifically violence against girls and young women, can be. Sadie will haunt you long after the last page.

A Most Agreeable Murder

by Julia Seales

Recommended by Alyssa Krob, Digital Resources Librarian

I'm not much of a mystery/thriller reader, but this cozy mystery was a fun read! The author did a humorous parody on Jane Austen and all things Regency that involved a murder-mystery, glowing frogs, and possibly werewolves. If you are looking for something light hearted and not at all too serious, I would definitely recommend this one. Although if you are a true Jane Austen fan, I would steer clear.

The Kind Worth Killing

by Peter Swanson

Recommended by Candy Van Tine, Branch Manager

Ever plotted a murder with the stranger sitting next to you on an airplane? Me, either…But you know how sometimes you find yourself confiding things in strangers that you wouldn’t share with anyone else? In The Kind  Worth Killing by Peter Swanson, Ted mentions to his seatmate that he’s convinced his wife is cheating on him. Things take off from there, and you get to go along for one crazy ride.

This story will suck you in like a Dyson 300. You won’t want it to end. The good news though, is that the author has other titles that are equally as fantastic, so pick up one today!
