Magnolia Cow

Artist: Don Chavis

Location: Lowcountry National Bank, Lady's Island
(Highway 21 at Meridian Road)

"Magnolia Cow " is the most recent incarnation of Cowolina, the "Roving Cow" that has been repainted several times since the original "Cows on Vacation" event. She is the creation of self-taught artist Don Chavis of Bennetsville, SC, where the cow had been pasturing before returning to Beaufort (Lowcountry National Bank borrowed Magnolia Cow for the 2002 Water Festival Grand Parade and for temporary display at its location).

Photographed by Dennis Adams (July 21, 2002)

Groups, agencies and companies wishing to borrow this roving cow may contact the Arts Council of Beaufort County, PO Box 482 (801 Carteret Street, University of South Carolina at Beaufort) Beaufort, SC 29901 TEL: 521-4144; FAX: 521-4145.
