About
the Lobeco Public Library
Building Project
In
late October of 2002, renovation of the old Lobeco School House building
began at 1862
Trask Parkway (Highway 21). Less than nine months later,
the new Lobeco Branch Library held its Grand Opening
(June 14, 2003) as the library facility for the northern area of Beaufort
County (the Dale Public Library had previously shared the media center
of Davis Elementary School ).
The
new, expanded facility allows for a growing collection of materials
and increased outreach and children's programs. Its visibility to
visitors coming into Beaufort County from highways 21, 17 and Interstate
I-95 make the new Lobeco Branch Library a useful local "information
center" and a valuable resource for the growing tourism industry.
