The Beaufort District Collection, Beaufort County Historical Society, and Coastal Discovery Museum co-sponsor the lectures by Dr. Shepherd McKinley of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte about phosphate mining in South Carolina and its long-term impact on the course of Southern industry after the Civil War. The lecture is free and open to anyone interested in attending.
