Do you like to draw? Would you like to gain instruction and become a better artist? Join SCAD graduate Melanie Florencio in a basic drawing session where techniques such as shapes, line, and shadow will be discussed. Open to adults ages 18+, no registration required.

Beaufort District Collection

The Beaufort History Museum presents historian and 54th Massachusetts Regiment re-enactor Joseph McGill and other re-enactors, who will create an encampment as the First South Carolina Volunteers, the first officially recognized unit of the United States Colored Troops. The encampment will be held in the Naval Hospital Park, off Ribaut Road in Port Royal, very near to the unit's original camp site of 150 years ago. The event is free. Information: 277-1443,

“The Civil War,” the groundbreaking documentary series by Ken Burns, will be screened over five consecutive Saturday afternoons as the Beaufort County Library system commemorates the 150th anniversary of the American Civil War through its “One County Reads One War” initiative.

The Bluffton Library Rug Hooking Group, a group of rug hooking enthusiasts, is open to all experience levels of rug hooking crafters. Start a new project or finish an old one, and make new friends.  Debra Walland, owner of Seaside Hooking and member of the Association of Traditional Hooking Artists will facilitate the group.

 Come get in-person homework help at the library in all subject areas. Homework Center uses trained volunteers and the services of Brainfuse to assist the students with their homework needs. Students will have time to take a break and have a snack, provided courtesy of the Friends of the Beaufort Library. Children under the age of 8 must be accompanied by an adult caregiver.
