Beaufort District Collection

Investigators and Digital Librarians Kate Boyd and Craig Keeney will speak about the online Civil War collections at the University of South Carolina, including the digital version of the New South, a Federal occupation newspaper published in Beaufort District. This book club for boys ages 6 and above is designed to get reluctant readers to love books, and reading. Each week we will learn all about a new book, or book series. The boys will have fun  sharing activities, snacks, and games/quizzes related to the book(s) of the week.

The information that most Americans have concerning medicine during the Civil War has come from the movies, TV, novels and sources that are more hysterical than historical. This program is based on medical practices and manuals of the period performed by and written by the people who were there. Free.
